The economic slowdown is greatly affecting our Events Schedule as Corporations cancel some events for 2009. Gold Camp will be down sizing many activities related to events. Gold Camp will put forth every possible idea and scheme in an all out effort to generate projects for our members. We know it is important to remain flexible and open minded, and to constantly proceed toward any opportinities as they arise.

Saturday, November 8th
|
Reports are in and it seems that once again the Wild Bunch blew into Texas and caused a heap of trouble at the Annual Lazy Z Ranch Bar B Que. Wild Bunch Arizona Territorial Members, were obliged to teach the Texicans the Arizona 3 Step which ain't easy when Texicans have their hands full just learnin the Texas 2 Step. Course, after a few Bucket Marqaritas, its hard to remember where in the hell you are from, no less where it is you are trying to go, or even how many legs you got. When the dust settled, one and all had a smashing good time. The Ranch has notified us that they want their Bull back~ Dang!

Gold Camp was announced the 'Grand Champion' winner of the 2008 Annual ~World's Most Entertaining Old West Web Site~ presented by the 'Champions of the Old West' Review Board. The Wild Bunch would like to thank Merlin Olson for his gracious hospitality during the Kaminsky Production Company Bank Commercial Shoot at the Old Miner's Camp. The Kaminsky Gang was a pleasure to work with. Also thanks for a great job from our new members, Madam Bucket, Abilene Annabelle and Tiny 'Fillmore' Taylor. Great Cast, including Californios Wild Bunch members, Mescal Grande, Ben Wade, Charlie Prince, Pina Colada, Blasting Cap Annie, Wild Bill, Roy O'Bannon, Lone~Arrow, and of course, 3 great horses. Great Production Crew and spectacular sunrise shoot. Due for release November 10th~

Monday, September 22nd
|
The Gang performed at the Old Miner's Camp for 400 guests Monday night and are pleased to point out that Pina Colada, Ace Hanlin and Charlie Prince provided outstanding performances for our guests. Also performing were regulars, Blasting Cap Annie, John Lone Arrow, and Amarillo Velatorio. The highlite of the evening was when the Bunch threw the Dakota Territories Governor in the Town Jail and made him wear a prison outfit. Fortunately, his wife made his bail. The Bunch went on to arrest and hold for bail about 20 guests, all of which eventually made bail after much rangling and pleading.

|
Gold Camp is relocating soon. Some offers are in the wind and the Mayor announced today that Pioneertown activities will be terminated. Gold Camp will continue to promote Pioneertown and hope their contributions to the Town will have had a positive effect overall. Wild Bill will has taken over the gold panning operation there and will run it as an independent enterprize.

Saturday, July 19th
|
An agreement reached between management parties at Pioneertown today at noon, calls for Gold Camp and the Wild Bunch to carry on at Pioneertown following a summer break from today until September. The Gold Panning store will remain open from 1:30 to about 5pm on the Weekends. The Jack Cass Saloon Photography Studio will be closed until September except for special events. You can catch the Photography Studio Service in Palm Springs at Villagefest every Thursday evening for our Old West Costume Photography. This reporter also was informed that the Wild Bunch Re-enactor Shows are being shut down until September due to the record heat this summer.

"Due to the overwhelming response at our Palm Springs Villagefest Shows, and huge interest by our clients there to journey up and discover Pioneertown, Gold Camp is reconsidering all variables in relocating offers at the present time. If we can assist Pioneertown in being discovered by more of the public, then we are interested in going in that direction due to the fact that Pioneertown is our actual place of origin, historically and otherwise, and we have certain loyalties to the great folks there." Thus speaketh the Mayor, Rio Cristy.

In a surprise developement, the Wild Bunch and Gold Camp have been offered a contract that would require relocating from Pioneertown. The Camp has moved before and is not afraid to follow the Gold! This editor will keep you all posted.

Tuesday, June 24th
|
Gold Camp passed muster (amoung other things) with the VillageFest Board and was approved for Old West Costume Photography and Gold Panning at the Palm Springs VillageFest every Thursday evening starting July 3rd at 7 PM. The meeting held at Palm Springs City Hall was sort of a cross between an info commercial, the Gong Show and the Old Miner Speech from Blazing Saddles. Just about the time Rio was just getting cranked up the board decided enough was enough and approved Gold Camp without further adieu, which sais alot for Rio's gift of irreverent jibberish, gab, blabbering and blarney (reverent!). During the meeting we found out that Wild Bill's stomach can talk and hum a variety of catchy tunes according to the report given this reporter by Rio Cristy. This will be the second series of shows in the last 12 years that Gold Camp will have graced the avenue de Palm Canyon Drive if this reporter's memory recollects, the first time being in 1996.

At the Seasonal 'The Fastest Gun in the West' Show on Sunday, Iron Snake did a fine job in his premier performance as 'Scars'. Encore! Also, a very attractive young woman volunteer member of the audience did a superb job running way, way down the street to escape the rath to Scars, for sending him to Prison. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, only to end up making notch #16 on Scars arm and 'kicking the bucket' in the most dramatic style to date, which is this editors humble observation, Bravo to both is most deserving!

Honorable Mention as standouts for this weeks 'Fastest Gun in the West Show' goes to Creme de Sherry for her fine performance as the Opera Singer, to Salty Sam for his enthusiasm, and to Young Gun Charlie for daring to listen for Calamity Janes heartbeat! Also thanks to all the Mayor's bodyguards for working hard to make the show even startup! The Wild Bunch has applied for the Palm Springs Village Fest Street Fair and will be going back again for the remainder of the year. The Wild Bunch intends to offer Real Gold Panning and Old West Costume Photography every Thursday evening starting at 7 pm to 10 pm. Any Pioneertown folks who would like to have their businesses promoted at the Fest contact the Mayor.

Sunday April 26th

The Mayor has informed the Chronicle that Gold Camp has just taken over the Jack Cass Saloon and will be offering an Old West Costume Photography Service and Retail Costume Shoppe. Retail Sales are to include our Bordertown Oufitters Line and Border Goods. Opening is scheduled for May 3rd at Noon with a Grand Opening Party Saturday May 24th. The Jack Cass Saloon will be closed for the big Encampment (the 16th 17th and 18th only.) The Saloon will then be open again thereafter for the rest of the year.

The Wild Bunch has been busy installing an Old West Costume Photography Studio at the Old Miner's Camp at the Fault Line . The Studio will be managed by the renowned and very capable C.S. McFly. The Grand opening will take place today at noon. "Our specialty is dressing folks up and shooting them" states McFly.

The Chronicle has just received word that the Wild Bunch has aquired a storefront on Mane Street in Historic Pioneertown and will be opening a Miner's Supply Store and Gold Panning Operation directly in front. They will be offering a wide variety of mining and panning supplies as well as a Haberdashery featuring rugged clothing and hats. Customers will be able to pan for real gold out front most every weeekend from 11 am till 1 pm. Store Hours are 11 am till 4 pm weekends only or by appointment to accommodate tourist groups~

The Wild Bunch returned from Arizona with nobody shot up or hung so the Saloons will be back to 'as usual'. The Bunch will be at the Old Miners Camp in the Indio Hills for a show March 1st~ The Bunch picked up three newcomers while in Arizona the last two months, Ike, Wyatt, and Creek Johnson all of whom have ventured back with the gang to Gold Camp~ The general consenus is the Bunch is glad to be back and the weather in Arizona was CRAZY this year~

The Mayor has just informed me that the Wild Bunch is headin for Arizona from January 15th to February 15th. A skeleton crew will remain behind to do construction upgrades to the Photography Studio. What we all know this really means is that it will be safe to frequent the Saloons for a while. Yahoooo!

Sunday, July 29th
|
Sheriff Preacher Bill (Wild Bill) announced that the Wild Bunch will be holding their Annual Bar-B-Que the last Sunday of August. The Sheriff went on to say that "We seriously frown on any hangins, brawlins, fisty-cuffs, tar and featherin and any other asssorted mayhem such as what occurred at last years event (especially if the victim is kin!). Also passing out under tables when ladies are present is now unacceptable behavior, thanks to Crusty".
The Sheriff went on to state that "Due to the growth in size of the Wild Bunch, if you intend to bring more than three guests please inform Hop Sing". In this regard we have quoted the Sheriff, "THIS year, we are willing to refrain from enforcing any of last years inhibiting rules (like, taking bubble baths in the panning troughs, blowing up outhouses while occupied, dancing with live partners only, or no dancing while on fire, etc., etc.) due to the squabbling and pandamonium at the last Miner's Hall Meeting.". The Sheriff went on to say, "No marriages will be performed after 4 pm".
Needless to say the Public is not invited to this event.

The other day someone asked me "What makes the Wild Bunch any different from all the other Re-enactment Groups?" 'Rio Cristy' answers, "Hell, I have never even heard of a re-enactment group that does not use scripts. We do not use scripts! We use themes from certain Western Movies and spontaneously re-create the scene the way it feels best for us. It reminds me of a headline I just read 'Wild Boar runs rampant through store'. That's the Wild Bunch. We do not memorize lines. Just cause you saw our show once doesn't mean it won't be very different the next time you see it."
